Hub Clubs

Lego Club

Every Saturday morning at Crowland Community Hub between 10am and 1pm families enjoy traditional play with Lego. It is encouraging to see that both parents and the children enjoy this traditional past time and are happy to show their creative skills. Speaking to one parent I said he looked as if he was enjoying himself and he just responded. “I’m having a great time”. In such a busy world is great to see parents and their children enjoying themselves like this on this Saturday morning.

There is a great stock of Lego with lots of different Lego colours with pieces that allow creativity in play.

Not only do we have the Lego sessions, but we also have the facility for children to borrow Lego from our lending section too. This facility has been developed following very generous donations of Lego from local residents.

From time to time the Community Hub also runs Lego competitions with prizes being awarded to winners.

Come and join us on a Saturday morning for relaxation and fun.

Crowland History Group

A very popular group at the Hub, the History group is a font and wealth of much historical knowledge. They meet at the Community Hub every Thursday and have worked on a variety of projects in Crowland, including creating profiles of those on our war memorial, who died in the war for remembrance Day. Checking out family trees and getting to the bottom of family Hstory within Crowland. They have also supported and welcomed young people in education wanting help with school projects, learning and local history.

Also within this group and the Hub are the excellent writings of Stephen Perry who researches streets, buildings, and key historical information about Crowland and its past.

This group also has interacted with a variety of pupils at Southview Primary School who attended exhibitions put on by this group and learnt more about the various wars.

If you have any interest in history of your family pop in on a Thursday to see the group.

Pins and Needles Craft

Pins N Needles.jpg

Pins and needles are a group coordinated through Crowland cares in Hall Street Crowland. This group meets once a week on a Wednesday afternoon at the Hub to undertaks all sorts of craft activities. Currently their focus is on making scarves for the homeless. This group will take on the task of knitting more poppies to refresh the Poppy drape on the Abbey at Remembrance in November allowingus to refresh this in 2025.

The contact for this group at Crowland cares is Sue Brimson.

Craft holiday clubs

In the school holidays, our Library Manager Heather Beeken runs a number of holiday craft groups for children in Crowland. These are generally free to attend and have a theme to each. The resources and materials are provided by the Hub at each session. These sessions allows children the opportunity to be creative, undertake some fun projects and get together and chat with their friends.

Projects have included junk modelling, Lego, at the seaside and many moreChildren tend to have a great time at these clubs occasionally getting a little bit messy which we think increases for the fun they have. The Hub usually advertises its clubs in advance in the Hub, in the Town Magazine and on Facebook so watch out for our  2025 programme.
